Introduction

Leeds City Council is committed to fostering and supporting effective partnership working through the Leeds Initiative - the Local Strategic Partnership for Leeds. The Leeds Housing Partnership has been recognised as a contributory partnership to the Leeds Initiative.

The Leeds Housing Partnership is committed to ensuring that housing partners make an effective contribution to the Vision for Leeds and wider regeneration strategy. It is also responsible for developing, implementing and reviewing the Leeds Housing Strategy and the Leeds Strategic Plan and for ensuring the full contribution of housing partners to the achievement of the outcomes and targets set out in the strategy.

The Leeds Housing Partnership is working to support Area Working and to harness the activities of partners at a district/area level to improve services on the ground.

Structures and Links

The Leeds Housing Partnership is represented on the Yorkshire and Humberside Housing Forum and its Executive and has been active in helping develop the regional housing agenda. It also is represented on the Leeds City Region Housing Board, West Yorkshire Housing Partnership and the Golden Triangle Partnership.

At a local strategic level, the Leeds Housing Partnership is represented on the Leeds Strategic Plan Strategy Group, and Leeds Initiative's Narrowing the Gap Executive which co-ordinates partnership working in support of the Leeds Regeneration Plan. This enables the linkages between the Leeds Housing Strategy and the Leeds Regeneration Plan to be maintained and ensures key priorities from the Vision for Leeds and members of the Leeds Housing Partnership take on board its daughter strategies.

The Leeds Housing Partnership seeks to ensure that Leeds strategic prorities are incorporated into the Leeds Housing Strategy and the business plans of partners. It also seeks to ensure that the actions of members support the Vision for Leeds' daughter strategies (especially the Leeds Regeneration Plan, the Council's Corporate Plan and Capital Strategy and other key strategies).

The Leeds Housing Partnership has established District Housing Partnerships to harness the activities of the range of housing partners at a district level and to develop District Housing Strategies. This and other services will play a key role in implementing the programmes and priorities of the Leeds Strategic Plan and Leeds Housing Strategy at a dsitrcit level.

Membership of the Leeds Housing Partnership

Membership of the Leeds Housing Partnership is open to any organisation (or individual) providing or managing housing in Leeds or with a particular interest in housing and related issues which is committed to developing the contribution good quality housing can make to a sustainable city.

The Leeds Housing Partnership

The Leeds Housing Partnership forms part of the structure of the Leeds Initiative – the Local Strategic Partnership for Leeds.

The Leeds Housing Partnership meets as an open forum quarterly to consider developments in housing policy and its local implementation in Leeds.

The Partnership elects an Executive, which is responsible for the effective operation of the partnership and its Strategic Working Groups and District Housing Partnerships, which are charged with ensuring the implementation of housing strategy in Leeds.

The Leeds Housing Partnership is serviced by re'new - a strategic regeneration and housing agency based in Leeds (www.renew-leeds.co.uk).
